Friday Favorites (No. 7)

Happy Friday!

Normally I like to pop in here on Fridays and share what I’m reading, but if I told you I read anything this week, I would be lying to you.

A few of my friends have been telling me for about a year that I need to start watching Poldarkbut I didn’t listen to them. That is, until last weekend. And I can’t do anything else except watch it. I have done nothing but eat, sleep, work… and watch Poldark. If you haven’t given it a try, I am serious when I say DO NOT DELAY. Especially if you have an inconsolable Downton Abbey void. This one helps with the pain. Promise. (You can find the first two seasons on Amazon Prime, and if you live in the US, season 3 starts this Sunday on PBS.) Read More

Friday Favorites (No. 6)

Well hey there! It’s been awhile since I’ve had the pleasure of doing a Friday Favorites post. I love these because they allow me to share what’s going on in my life in a more informal way.

So what’s new this week? Well, I finished reading my first Anne Bronte, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. A friend of mine recommended it, and I’m glad I followed her suggestion! I couldn’t put it down, and I was surprised at how much easier Anne Bronte is to read than her sister Charlotte. (But I LOVE Charlotte, and her books are worth the effort.) Read More

Friday Favorites (No. 5)

Happy Friday! I’m so glad the weekend is finally almost here. Even though it’s been a short work week, I’ve had a lot of little things going on that have kept me really busy this week. Of course, my weekend is going to be pretty busy too, but that’s okay.

The weather this week has been just gorgeous! 70s and sunny every day. I wish Michigan was like this year round!

I’m currently reading The Lost Heiress by Roseanna M White, and YOU GUYS. If you love Downton Abbey, you need to read this book. It sucked me in so fast because it takes place in the Edwardian Era (the beginning of the 20th Century), which means the world the characters live in is just like Downton. The story focuses on the daughter of a Earl, who is trying to discover her past so she can move forward with her life. I’m not even finished with it yet but I’m in love. The best part is it’s the first novel in a series. YAY!

Speaking of book series, this week the latest addition to the Lancaster Family series by Sarah M Eden came out! It’s called Romancing Daphne, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I absolutely love Sarah M Eden. Her elegant writing style and quirky sense of humor would make Jane Austen proud.

Has anyone watched the new Anne of Green Gables series on Netflix (called Anne)? I have been meaning to start it, but haven’t yet. I’m curious to know if it’s any good – despite the fact that no one can replace Megan Follows! Read More

Friday Favorites (No. 4)

Mint & Gold 6

Happy Friday! I just can’t believe how quickly the month of May is passing us by. It’s definitely been one of the busiest months of this year so far, so that’s probably why.

Last week on Tuesday, my husband and I celebrated two years of marriage! If we could, I think we would spend every anniversary in Jamaica, where we spent our honeymoon. But since we couldn’t swing it, we went to Bahama Breeze instead. Close enough, right?! 😉

Speaking of marriage, last weekend I watched one of my best friends say, “I do”! It was such a beautiful wedding and a really fun weekend overall. Read More

Friday Favorites (No. 3)

Happy Friday! After a crazy week of being sick and having a million little things to do, I am so ready for the weekend.

First of all, this week the internet has been really amusing. Between all the posts about Justin Timberlake and Star Wars, I’ve had a few good chuckles. However, can we please take a moment to recognize what will truly be the most exciting day of this month?!

I recently watched the BBC miniseries version of Jane Austen’s Sense & Sensibility, and I’ve been able to talk about little else since then! You guys, it was SO GOOD. I wouldn’t say it’s better than the 1995 movie, but it was wonderful. I laughed, and I cried. I have to say, I can’t quite decide who is the better Edward – Hugh Grant or Dan Stevens?! I truly loved them both in the role. Read More

Friday Favorites (No. 2)

Wow, what a week it has been! I mean, honestly. This was one of those weeks when I got to Tuesday evening and was already completely wiped out (not to mention ready for bed by 8:00 pm). Please tell me I’m not the only one!

This week I read The Magnolia Story by Chip & Joanna Gaines. To be honest with you, up until this week I had only ever seen one episode of Fixer Upper! I have just been on such a kick with watching period dramas on Netflix or Amazon Prime, and I haven’t been in the mood for that type of show. However, on Sunday evening my husband’s grandma suggested I read The Magnolia Story and she let me borrow her copy. I have to say, I loved it so much! And now that my husband and I actually have cable, I can start watching their show on HGTV! My plan is to start from season one and work my way through to the current season. Read More

Friday Favorites (No. 1)

Happy Friday! I am so excited that it’s Friday for two reasons: 1) It’s going to be super warm outside this weekend, and 2) I am starting a new Friday ritual here on the blog!

I’m aware that this is probably not a unique idea in any way, but in order to connect with my readers more I am starting something called Friday Favorites! A couple of times per month on Fridays, I will post a random update on my life, sharing my favorite moments from the week as well as anything good I’ve seen, read, watched, listened to, etc. In return, I would love for you to comment with your own Friday Favorites so we can learn about each other!
